I'm tackling Simplicity 7120 shift dress pattern from 1967, without sleeves and with a rounded neckline (there are three necklines to choose from in the pattern). I had to try to make the pattern a little bit bigger because it's a size small, which I am definitely not.
For fabric I'm using old curtains that I got at Fripe-prix the other day. If I finish this it will be the first pattern I've ever sewn. Who knew cutting out pattern pieces (only four!) could take so long and be so intense? I just spent over three hours arranging and pinning and cutting, and I haven't even gone near my sewing machine yet. It's amazing how every time I decide to do something sewing related I'll think, 'This will be a breeze, I'll knock this off in an afternoon!', and then it ends up taking days and often results in more than a few tantrums and tears shed. We'll see how it goes, but first, lunch!
[Update] This is indeed taking days, as expected, but only because I haven't touched it since my birthday because I was too amped about Hip Hop Karaoke. I've also been doing little hemming projects and today I found a giant floral dress which I decided to resize. I think it'll turn out real nice. I need to buy material(s) for something I plan on crafting for a certain young man whom I am currently missing greatly because he is across the pond.
[Update] First and hopefully last upset, I broke the effing zipper so now I have go buy a new one. No tears, though!
